Crazy Streets (aka Forever, Lulu)
Comedy, 90 min. Directed by Amos Kollek Two outrageous women are turning New York City upside-down in this wild comedy from 1987. Elaine (Hanna Schygulla) moves from her native Germany to New York City to pursue her dreams of becoming a novelist. There she gets lost in a crime underworld and soon becomes the target of a hit. Deborah Harry (of Blondie) co-stars in the film as Elaine’s friend Lulu, and Alec Baldwin makes his first screen appearance as a young cop pursuing the gangsters hunting down Elaine. Also starring Brooklyn's own Annie Golden (The Shirts, Hair, Orange Is The New Black.) As if this movie wasn't already 80s enough, Dr. Ruth is in it too! In the vein of female-driven comedies of the 80s like “Desperately Seeking Susan”, “Crazy Streets” features madcap comedy, women on the run and mistaken identities. |
