Super Fun Show, with Learning!Experimental, 16m
Directed by Lexie Kahanovitz and Jim Tozzi WINNER: Vanguard Award, 2016 Art of Brooklyn Film Festival 'Super Fun Show, with Learning!' is a trippy animated and puppet-filled journey created by Lexie Kahanovitz and co-directed by Jim Tozzi (PFFR), one of the creators of MTV2’s legendary 'Wonder Showzen.' In this fantastical sci-fi comedy, we journey inside the television-fused brain of recently unemployed milliennial Sandy Childs. She and her neuron friend, Axon, are forced to battle TV for control of her frontal lobe so that Sandy can stay focused and figure out where her next meal is coming from. 'Super Fun' is 'Neverending Story' 'Fantastic Planet' and 'Dark Crystal' rolled into one psychedelic and educational adventure about a lady who can't turn off the TV. Lexie Kahanovitz (creator) is a native New Yorker who's been a Brooklynite for all of her adult life. Most of Super Fun's cast and crew reside in Brooklyn. The sound design, music, and a significant portion of the post production was done in Brooklyn. 35 animators and VFX artists incorporated paintings, claymation, puppets, hand-drawn animation, and computer generated effects to create the world of Super Fun Show, with Learning! Super Fun draws from extensive scientific research about the effects of television on the brain. The backgrounds were hand-painted based on anatomical references of neurons. The floor of the brain scape is an actual cross-section of the brain. The sound design mimics the sounds of firing neurons. |
